Major Remodel Set for Delaware

Rad Cross Building

The National Rad Cross has announced plans for a major remodel of the Delaware Red Cross Building, home of the DELARA organization. To be named the “K8ES Building” this new structure will build upon what;s already in place. “The surroundings and environment are serene, yet offer the chance to really build upon both the Red Cross reputation and the community service goals of the Delaware Amateur Radio Association,” said a statement from national. The plans would create a first floor atrium, with modern offices and a cafeteria.  A massive second floor meeting room, with overstuffed spectator seating and a state-of-the-art projection system will be surrounded by a lounge and open-office spaces.  The third floor penthouses will be dedicated to a large, modern amateur radio station. Partitioned into several purposes, a multi-operator contest station will occupy one side, a multi-operator ARES and general QSO station the other. In between will be several full-power amplifier stations along with remote antenna controls for the several towers and beams anticipated to surround the building. An Internet backbone hub will be in place offering direct 1200-gig service. The entire buildding will be on a quiet, fully automtic backup power system. “With DELARA’s activity in the current building justifying our attention, the project should be done by April 1, 2020. “ 
DELARA Club Station Agreement Use of the club station is limited to DELARA members who are current on their dues. If in doubt, ask!  The station manager’s names and phone numbers are posted on the station door. There is a lock box on the outside of the building to get a key to unlock the outside door and a keypad lock for the station door.  The keypad code will be changed periodically. Please be aware that a camera records people coming into or out of the station.  This is for security and is not designed to monitor your operating. Please attend an orientation session, or ask for a demonstration, before operating at the station. Codes for the doors are not to be shared with friends, family members or other non-DELARA members. Please announce your intention to use the station via the club’s email reflector so that others April plan around your intention. Operation of the stations must be within the bounds of your license. Please be extremely careful with drinks or food; food should be kept in the kitchen.  You are responsible for cleaning up your own mess. Please be aware that the Red Cross owns the building has much property in the building and respect for their property is expected. Most of all:  PLEASE USE THE STATION!! IT’S THERE FOR ALL CLUB MEMBERS!
