Field Day

For Field Day, we plan to put up a few more antennas, mostly of the wire variety.  The purpose is to give the 4 HF stations plus the GOTA station band diversity and to try to lessen inter-station interference.  An antenna party is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the Red Cross.  If it rains, we’ll try for the next day. On Friday, June 8, at 6:00 p.m. we plan to do a dry run of all 5 HF stations to look for interference issues. You are welcome to stop by and see how these things are done and perhaps learn some things for your own stations.  You might also be able to contribute some muscles or your own lessons that you learned at the Great School of Hard Knocks. There will be additional antennas for VHF and satellite operations that will not be done until Field Day or during Friday setup. Hopefully, the weather cooperates and Friday, June 22, will work as a day to get all the little details done.  Time is TBD but will probably be around 10:00 or whatever the setup teams think they need. Field Day itself will start Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. and run through Sunday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m.  The Picnic Not To Be Missed will be on Saturday around 5:00 p.m.  Tim, NS8B, has a list of who should bring what based on your last name.  Check the newsletter or we’ll discuss that at the June regular meeting. We hope to see you sometime during June.
