WWV -

Beep! bong..bong..bong

The National Institute of Standards has broadcast the ~exact~ time for generations, over station ‘WWV’. Many of us have used the station’s transmissions to calibrate our receiver dials, set a clock exactly, or even test the coverage patterns of the radio spectrum. From Ft. Collins, Colorado this station has been a staple of radio. But it was not funded in the 2019 federal budget- and much discussion ensued. There will probably be a big hole left in the RF spectrum where the WWV signal used to be if that happens. John Perone, W8RXX, toured the station and he’ll bring that tour to us for our January meeting!
