Yep...really behind him almost all the way! "A Tale of Two Evenings" It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. On Friday evening, It seemed like I worked every ham in FL and TX. I even had a ZL (New Zealand) call me at around 11 PM local time and two Californians called me around midnight. But, they don't call Sporadic E-Skip sporadic for nuttin'. Maybe they should call it Fickle E-Skip. Friday evening was hot. Saturday evening was not. Sunday was good, with a mix of E and F skip. I even snagged a few Europeans. "Sunspots, we don't need no stinking sunspots!" I missed ND, DE, DC, and AK.(Never even heard them) I missed about half of the VE provinces. Locally, I worked Mark, N8FTB, and Carl, K8NU. 2020 ARRL TEN METER CONTEST Call used: K8MP Location: OH Category: Single-Op Mode: CW Power: High Callsign of Operator(s): K8MP Exchanged Information: K8MP RST OH Hours of Operation: 12:24 band QSOs points mults ------------------------------------------------------ CW 472 1888 65 ------------------------------------------------------ TOTAL 472 1888 65 SCORE: 122,720 For the 160 contest: I only operated 11.5 hours and ran low power to my Inverted-L but I'm pleased with my score. I worked Dale (KTQ), Chuck (KKN), and Mike (K8ROX). Mike is a former member who moved out of the area a few years ago. I heard Tom (HAI) but we were both S&P at the time so I couldn't call him. I picked up every US section in the lower 48 except NV (Nevada), EWA (Eastern Washington), and SJV (San Joaquin Valley) I worked nine Canadian sections. I never heard Alaska or Hawaii. NNY (Northern New York) is usually very rare but I worked four of them. DX-wise, it was slim pickins. I got C6 (Bahamas), ZF (Caymans), V31 (Belize), XE (Mexico), and KP2 (US Virgin Islands) 3 times! I never heard any Europeans, which is unusual. 2020 ARRL 160 METER CONTEST Call used: K8MP Location: OH Category: Single-Op Mode: CW Power: Low Callsign of Operator(s): K8MP Exchanged Information: K8MP RST OH Hours of Operation: 11:30 band QSOs points ------------------------------------ 160 614 1240 ----------------------------------- TOT 614 1240 X 79 multipliers = 97,960 Club or Team Name: Delaware Amateur Radio Assn 160 again: First contest I've worked since Field Day! Used the new 160 Inverted V I put up and it worked much better than an Inverted L. The good news is you don't have to mess with a bunch of radials with a V. Decided to run high power this time (400+ watts). Worked Joe (TA), Joe (MP), Dave (DL), Tom (HAI) + 6 countries: C6, CO2, CT9, V31, XE2, ZF2. Hardly any 6's or 7's the first night but this morning was better. Total time: 15:23. Always fun!
