Ed Jones, K8MEJ, is no stranger to portable operating. Now,
there’s something new in his operating window: talking to
Amateur Radio satellites!
Ed setup an automatic satellite antenna system at Alum creek
recently.
February Meeting: It’s Up in the Air!
Well, way up in the air… Dave Wb2CWJ and friends will bring us on
an adventure that started years ago with the very first amateur
radio satellite in space! Did you know that the first amateur radio
dedicated satellite was launched only four years after the world’s
first real satellite (Sputnit I)? Oscar I was launched December 12,
1961 and a special breed of hams has been working each other via
space ever since.

One of the club’s Field Day activities was connecting with a satellite
and making a QSO. If Dave spurs your interest, be sure and watch
the gang in the parking lot at Field Day do it again!
