The Legacy of Larry
As you know, we lost Larry Mittman, N9AUG who battled several
health issues. Larry’s enthusiasm for everything DELARA was
unmatched! He could always be found at any DELARA activity,
including Field Day.
DELARA trustees have been notified that Larry’s love for DELARA
will continue - Larry has left his amateur radio equipment to the
club. This donation was begun with the Yaesu 950 which has
been in the ARC station for some time. Now, the rest of his
equipment will be coming to the club including his contest-grade
Yaesu FT-5000, a Quadra system and many antennas and other
rigs.
Dale has received the legal notice of the donation, now we’ll
allow time for the probate process to take place so we don’t
know exactly when we’ll see the gear. Larry’s family and friends
all speak of hie love for amateur radio and DELARA. We are
honored beyond words to be able to remember Larry every time
we operate the station!
It’s heartwarming to no only remember Larry but Bob, N8OB
with his Kenwood rig at the ARC station.
June Meeting: Field Day!
It’s coming!
Field Day will be very different this year! (More details on the Field
Day page in this edition). While large gatherings are not permitted
(unless, of course, we’re protesting something) but that actually
presents more opportunity for everyone to operate!
We hope to actually ~see~ you at the Red Cross 7:30 PM
Wednesday the 17th!
The schedule for this year’s presentations is in a shambles as you
can imagine. We tried to keep things going, and many thanks to
those who did present on Zoom sessions! They were interesting
and we learned stuff. But we’ll work now to get the rest of the year
back in some semblance of order.
