Work continues!

The filters are here!! The two bandpass filters we purchased from DX Engineering have arrived, and will be installed at the ARC station shortly. They offer a reported 65 dB reduction of out-of-band RF, and reports from a couple clubs in Northern Ohio are that they work very well. One of these will pass 80 meters, the other will pass 40- so we’re really hoping this will eliminate or significantly reduce the inter-station interference. We’ll do a test before too long and see how they perform! The purchase of our new 7300’s and these filters is part of an upgrade program for the station. As a part of the program, we are offering for sale the N9AUG radio.

World-class HF radio: Yaesu FT-5000. This radio is from the estate of N9AUG. Larry was a major contester, and this is a major contest-quality radio that he operated successfully. This was used for our 2020 Field Day, and operates well. The dimmed OLED displays (a known issue) have all been replaced in the radio as well as the accompanying “station control” unit- which functions as a panadapter with dual phased speakers. The radio has an onboard 110V power supply and will come with a Yaesu hand mic. This is not a rig for the faint of heart: 160-6, electronic keyer, variable RF filter, dual receive, digital notch, many other features. This thing is amazing, big and heavy. The condition of the case is fair- there is minor scratch and wear indicative of its age. The radio carries an impressive 4.7 review from 142 users on E-Ham. The radio is discontinued, and the overinflated, optimistic pricing on eBay generally runs above $4500. On prices have been more reasonably between $3500 and $3900 for the radio alone, with the station monitor generally between $200 and $300. DELARA is offering this radio delivered, with controller and hand mic for sale at $3400. If there is no interest from within the club, it will be listed on arrl-ohio and QTH at that price plus shipping (which will be significant!) Contact Stan, N8BHL
