It was a party!

The DELARA holiday party is traditionally held in early January, to avoid the rush of seasonal parties we all face in December. It’s a great time to gather after the busy days of families and grandkids have subsided. This year, the party was ~on~! Under the careful architecture of Joe Papworth, K8MP, we dined to (of course!) ham and pot luck- and the pot was really lucky this year! It was a great time to just fellowship with each other (and with wives/hubbies) and renew our friendships. Many thanks to Joe, and many thanks to all who prepared and brought the food! Want to test some antennas? Try it on your desk before you string wire! I saw this on a different forum and decided to share... The owner/developer (W7EL) of the well known EZNEC antenna analysis software has retired and is now offering it for free to the amateur radio community. With this software you can simulate the performance of simple and complex antennas on a Windows PC. Download link below.... https://www.eznec.com/ Ed - KD8YQQ

Lots of pictures!

One of the latest activities on the part of several club members is finding and recording photos and pictures from short wave broadcast stations. (Who knew that was a thing?) In addition, photos from the International Space Station have been logged. It’s pretty exciting stuff! First, Joe, K8MP, filed these pictures: Mike, W8MDC, was fast on his tail with several including this one: Then Bob, W8ERD and others discovered short wave broadcasts that included pictures!
