Helping- something we just ‘do’
Through the years, a tradition or a culture has
developed in ham radio. It is one of helping. For
many, it’s expressed when a call goes out for
antenna help- and a half dozen or more show up
just to help. When the call goes out for DELARA, a
dozen or more appear at the Red Cross to help re-
run coax, clear the storage areas and generally keep
the place going. It’s just what the hobby is all about.
The latest example is from Bob, W8ERD:
Last Saturday Craig W8CR came over with the lift
truck and installed the rotator, this time with rodent.
protection.
[Note- the next day Craig and Dale were the ARC
installing a new two-meter beam and HF antenna -

Ed AE8Q and Roger KB8RTF served as ground crew.
Roger displayed his artistic talents by permanently
affixing a big label to the tower up/down control box
cover.
My wife Judy provided a great pizza lunch.
