Howdy from Joe’s Place!
Hola from José’s Crib!
Beware of the Darkness !!!
A little knowledge of Old Testament history, sunspots, and solar cycles will make this more
enjoyable…
Behold, Pharaoh dreamed a dream.
And in the dream he saw eleven shining discs, which shone like the brightness of the sun.
And within the discs was all manner of fire and smoke and vapor which shot out and
surrounded all the earth so that the night time sky burned with fire. And some men
wondered at the sight. Others trembled at it, wondering what manner of destruction it
would bring upon the earth.
Still others cursed the fire for it rendered their radios of none effect for a season.
And Pharaoh dreamed another dream.
And in the dream, darkness covered the fire in the sky. And the darkness grew until it
covered even the shining discs, one by one. And some men wondered at the darkness.
Others trembled at it, wondering what manner of destruction it would bring upon the earth.
Still others cursed the darkness for it rendered their radios of none effect for many, many
seasons.
And Pharaoh called his counselors and soothsayers and all of Egypt’s wise men unto him to
find a man who could tell the meaning of his dreams. But no man was found who could
interpret Pharaoh’s dreams. And he became wroth with anger and commanded that all of
his counselors and soothsayers and all of Egypt’s wise men should be cast out of the
kingdom.
And after a season, a certain damsel whispered in Pharaoh’s wife’s ear saying, “Behold,
there is a man of another land who is an interpreter of dreams. But alas, he is not an
Egyptian and is not permitted to stand before Pharaoh.” And Pharaoh’s wife told her
husband of the outsider who was able to interpret dreams. And Pharaoh commanded that
the dream interpreter be brought before him. And the man was from beyond Egypt’s
southern border and his name was José.
“¿Qué pasa King?” asked José.
And Pharaoh answered “I have had two dreams that no man can interpret.” And he told José
of his dreams and asked. “Pray tell me, are you able to tell the meaning of my dreams?”
And José answered and said “The eleven shining discs are blemishes on the face of the sun
which bring forth our great feast days. They are the eleven years between the great feasts.
And the darkness is the great famine that lies between the great feasts which render radios
of none effect for many seasons. So shall it be.”
And Pharaoh rent his clothes and gnashed his teeth. And he pleaded with José “What can I
do to help my people and prevent this disaster?” And José answered saying “It shall be as I
have spoken, this disaster shall absolutely come. But tell the people to make ready by
reaching out to distant lands with their radios before the darkness comes.”
So Pharaoh told his people of his dreams and of how José had said thus and thus. And some
of the people heeded Pharaoh’s words and were not dismayed when the darkness came.
Those who did not heed Pharaoh’s words suffered greatly, not knowing why they could not
reach out to distant lands with their radios. Many pieces of gold were spent trying to
combat the darkness, yet the darkness prevailed just as José had said.
And Pharaoh promoted José in the kingdom declaring “There is none other in Egypt who can
interpret dreams like José.” And Pharaoh made José a citizen of Egypt and decreed that José
and his family and his children’s children’s children shall be honored by all of Egypt for all
generations. Further, he bestowed upon José all the pieces of gold that the people had
wasted trying to withstand the darkness. And with the gold pieces, José traded wisely with
the candy store and purchased the finest radios and antennas in the kingdom, so that he
alone was able to overcome the darkness.
And so it was written into the laws of Egypt and to this very day, the name José is spoken of
with honor and glory.
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it. I hope to see you all at the May meeting but if not, then
next month at José’s Crib.
