Amateur Radio - when all else fails

ARES is organized by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) the national organization for amateur radio. There are around 70 Sections, Ohio is one of the largest. Within Ohio, we are organized into ten districts. The goal is to have a county-level group of volunteers for each county. You can participate in this important service, and in the world’s greatest hobby- amateur radio. Study at any of the license practice websites on the Internet. DELARA (The Delaware County Amateur Radio Association, our partner) offers free FCC license exams four times a year. Once you get your license and an inexpensive vhf/uhf radio, you can join us in service your neighbors. You’ll be able to enjoy other aspects of the hobby as well- talking through “repeaters”, making contacts and new friends all over the globe.
