Want to join?
The first thing you need is a valid FCC amateur radio license. Practice the tests online, and check
DELARA (Delaware Amateur Radio Association) testing dates on the DELARA website:
www.k8es.org. Once licensed, you’re invited!
Training
In order to have a solid background in how our partner agencies deal with any type of situation,
our members train in the “National Incident Management” - NIMS - courses. We require ICS 100,
200, 700 and 800. They are free, available online, and will provide a solid background in the
organization of a large scale event. We provide more training during our monthly meetings,
typically the second Thursday of each month.
Dedication
We realize this is (and should not be) your first priority in life! But we do expect that you will
have time and energy to devote to our service! We gladly accept whatever time you can give the
program, knowing that when emergencies occur, we’ll be called to provide our time and service.
Activation
Our pertner agencies should have telephone numbers, but if you’re in that position and need to
activate ARES, you may use the following link: ares@k8es.org
