Echolink - IRLP

Amateur Radio has always been at the leading edge of communication technology. In fact, most of what we enjoy today was first developed in Amateur Radio. We’re no different now- making use of the Internet to link otherwise local-range radios to communications systems around the world at the touch of a button. One of the club’s operators is Gary, K8EHB, who has taken the time to put together some operating aids for us.

IRLP Node 4186 / EchoLink K8EHB-R

EchoLink #262738

Repeater Frequency: 443.550mhz +
PL Tone: None
Repeater Callsign: W8SJV
Location: Delaware, Ohio

Requirements:

You must be a licensed Amateur Radio Operator. A DTMF microphone is required to establish and bring down a connection. DTMF is not required if the remote node, or someone else establishes the connection for you.

Before you can make a connection you need to know the IRLP node, reflector, or EchoLink number that you would like to contact. You can obtain this information by visiting the IRLP Status Page or EchoLink Current Logins websites. The IRLP and EchoLink VOIP networks have thousands of Nodes, Conferences and Stations world wide.

To access the system:

Key up and identify yourself and that you'll be using IRLP or EchoLink.
"K8EHB accessing IRLP"

While you’re still keyed up enter the IRLP node or EchoLink number on your DTMF microphone "3820".
Please note that Echolink connections require a "#" prefix. Example "#185238"

Unkey your microphone and listen for the node's connection announcement. "Welcome to the Valley of the Sun, KC7GHT link on"
When first connecting, remember you may be dropping into a conversation in progress, so wait 30 seconds or so before transmitting to avoid interrupting a QSO.

Calling CQ is a great way to solicit a contact. Every Ham knows what it means.

To bring down the IRLP or EchoLink connection key up your microphone and enter "73".
You will hear the disconnection announcement: "Goodbye from the Valley of the Sun, KC7GHT link off".

Please don’t forget to identify yourself after you bring down the link.

Other useful Commands:

*1 – Last EchoLink or IRLP Connection

*4 – Radio Self-Test Recorder (TX once you hear the double beep)

** NOTE**

Incoming EchoLink connections are currently open to -L and -R stations only. If you are a PC user and would like to have incoming access to our node, please CLICK HERE to have your callsign pre-authorized.

Enjoy and PLEASE USE the system!!!!!!
